How our sons medical journey led us to Sick Kids

We found ourselves seeking out answers.  It hasn’t been an easy path. It has involved multiple doctors visits, multiple EEG’s, various therapists insights and so much planning and hoping among other things.
Our son, Ray, contracted a rare virus at 8 days old which caused seizures that were not easily detectable. Luckily, he survived that very rocky ordeal but he was left with cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, and seizures. The seizures eventually came back and they were very hard to manage. We sought out the neuro-ophthalmology team and epilepsy specialists at Sick Kids, where they were able to give us more insight on treatment. We will be forever grateful to their insight and expertise, which no doubt is in part due to the research efforts made at this facility. We can only hope to contribute what we can to help them continue their research efforts to find a cure for epilepsy.
