Walking for My Granddaughter
Saturday 31st JanThis February, I’m taking part in a step challenge in support of SickKids Hospital in Toronto—and this one is deeply personal.
I’m walking for my newborn granddaughter, who was born with a rare condition called Heterotaxy, resulting in significant congenital heart disease. At just three days old, she underwent surgery to reconstruct her pulmonary artery and place a shunt. In the months ahead, she will face another major heart reconstruction.
Like so many families, ours has already seen firsthand the extraordinary care, skill, and compassion provided by the team at SickKids. The doctors, nurses, and specialists caring for her are nothing short of remarkable—and we know how fortunate we are to have this hospital so close to home.
Every step I take this month is for her strength, her courage, and her future—and for all the little hearts and families who rely on SickKids during their most frightening moments.
