I’m participating in the February Step Challenge in support of SickKids.

In February, I’m stepping up in the fight for children’s health by participating in the February Step Challenge. Every walk, commute, and hike will help SickKids.

Your support, whether through a donation or simply cheering me on, will help keep me moving, one step at a time, towards my goal.

Transplant Anniversary!

Sunday 22nd Feb
15 years ago today, Hannah’s mom donated her kidney. A huge event. Dear friends of ours let us live in their Forest Hill condo, and it made all the difference. Privileged to walk those steps today. Everyone was involved, including Hannah’s excellent brother Zach ❤️❤️

As I log steps beyond 300k, I want to thank the fantastic donors to this cause. They are family and friends, awesome neighbours, work and university colleagues.. and even Hannah’s amazing SK doctor. Thank you all! Also - a tribute to my city. I love its streets, and more importantly, what it has meant to my family’s wellbeing. Pic here is my most beloved granddaughter Poppy ❤️

I’m walking for SickKids. It’s personal!

Hi everyone. I’m a participant in SickKids February Step Challenge to raise awareness and funds for the SK Foundation. In addition to being an important cause, it’s also a personal one. 

My daughter, Hannah, was a patient at SickKids for 18 years, diagnosed with a rare disease at 10 months. The fact that a doctor at SK was even familiar with the condition in 1995 and diagnosed it is beyond lottery odds. At the time of her diagnosis, her prognosis was uncertain to say the least. Her medical challenges have been numerous, culminating in a kidney transplant in 2011. Fast forward to today, she’ll be 32 this year! This is in huge part owing to her care at SK. She’s now a patient at TGH and the UHN network. She truly has world renowned care, thanks to this city.

My goal is to walk 300,000 steps in February. (Piece of cake, right?!) I love the cold so I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’ll update everyone on my progress here. I really appreciate anyone taking the time to read this, and for your support of the SickKids Foundation.
